no tell us about the hats
okay!
the summer between year 7 and year 8, apropos of nothing, I decided that it would be cool if I wore a different hat every single day of the following school year. I'd been umpiring softball all summer, so this was the first time I really had major monetary resources at my disposal. and I decided it would be best spent on The Hat Project. so I took my wad of cash down to all the local op shops and I bought out as many hats as I could find
my primary aim was to wear a different hat every day. my secondary aim was for those hats to get increasingly weird with every passing day. if anyone ever asked me any questions about the hats, I would pretend that I had no idea what they were talking about. if I was feeling particularly funny I would act like I didn't even know that I was wearing a hat to begin with. this worked particularly well in the cases of the bright pink cowboy hat and also the massive pom pom hat
the only day I didn't wear a hat was the day of the book week costume competition. that day, I wore a paper mache ham costume that I had made by myself in my backyard. because the only thing year 8 me was committed to more than The Bit was winning that damn costume competition
I hope this answers all your questions

This might just be a *me* thing, but I do find it kind of fascinating that almost every Feminist Greek Myth Retelling seems compelled to flatten Helen into a two-dimensional basic-bitch with no guilt or remorse for her actions despite the fact that self-loathing for her own beauty, a feeling of a lack of agency in the face of Aphrodite's whims and a complicated affection for and loyalty to both the Greeks and the Trojans are all major characteristics of hers in both The Odyssey and The Iliad. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the dynamics of modern feminism and patriarchy whatsoever.

one of the worst things in the development of bullet journals is the creation of reading trackers imo. people seem to just be setting themselves up for disappointment and self-loathing with those things, I'm always seeing posts in group about how upset they are they didn't read "enough" books that month/year

Now that season 2 of good omens is only about a month away and everyone waiting has already watched season 1 and read the book multiple times, may I suggest something to tide you over while waiting:
Tumblr media
When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb! Featuring an angel and a demon best-friend pair going on a trip together and being very confused by humans and their weird ways! It is very good!
The general tone is pretty humorous and light-hearted, the characters are fun, the mythology is fun, it’s all very jewish and very queer but light on romance (there’s an f/f subplot though!). The plot is less apocalyptic than Good Omens (they’re looking for a missing girl, not trying to stop armageddon) but equally as engaging.
In short: read When the Angels Left the Old Country, please, I beg of you, it deserves so much love
